DDA Stairwell Refurbishment

Waterseal can provide a range of DDA (Disability Discrimination Act 1995) compliant ancillary items which not only will provide protection to your stairs and handrails, but can dramatically transform their appearance.

The stair nosings that we install are available in a range of sizes to suit each individual application and with a comprehensive range of colours, can uplift your stairwells.

Statistics published by the Health & Safety Executive show that on average, slips and trips account for 30% of all reported major injuries and up to 50% of all reported accidents are to members of the public, with 95% of major slips resulting in broken bones.

Property owners are now responsible for reducing these figures by minimising risk of such incidents occurring.

All of our stair nosings are resin bonded to the existing substrate as well as being mechanically fixed using stainless steel countersunk screws.

These nosings are extremely durable and by altering the coloured inserts, can be used on both internal and external applications.

Following the installation of these stair nosings, Waterseal will provide a maintenance plan to assist in cleaning regimes which will increase the life expectancy of the inserts.

In addition to our stair nosings, we are also able to offer a range of highly visible, “warm to the touch”, protective handrail covers which can, as with the above, uplift the appearance of your stairwells, as well as complying with current DDA guidelines.

Fitted directly onto the existing balustrades, these protective covers, eliminate rusty and “cold to the touch” handrails.

These ancillary items can be installed either in isolation or in conjunction with the complete refurbishment of a stairwell where our other services, including the deck coatings, and the application of our specialist paints to the walls, can allow you to personalise and coordinate your stairwells.
